Summer vacation is coming soon, no matter you are at working or you are a student. It is a good time to relax yourself and family. Also, It’s that time of year to think for a getaway. Whether you are planning to go on a long-distance journey or a short weekend getaway, no matter you are leaving just for the weekend or going on a two-week-long vacation. We have some road trip safety tips for you.
1) On the day before you start your journey, you should clean out your car and have it inspected. If you don’t know how to do this thing, please find a professional. Remove any trash or things in the car that wouldn’t be used for the trip so you could get enough space for the luggage. At night, you should get enough rest. Driving at fatigued condition can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated.
2) Share driving responsibilities. If this is a trip with your family, you should share the driving time. One person takes 2 hours on driving, if you get three drivers, every driver can have 4 hours at rest. Your guys help each other to keep an extra set of eyes on the road.
3) Bring a detailed map or road atlas. This thing happens usually, you almost reach your destination, and your GPS no longer receives its satellite signal, you have to ask local for directions and sometimes they guide a wrong direction to you, this causes you to lose much valuable time. Do yourself a favor and bring a hard copy map with you for those just-in-case scenarios. GPS systems and smartphones are great, but often times lead you off course or die from battery exhaustion.
4) Make sure to pack all of the essentials aside from just your clothes: plenty of water, food, fruits, shoes, clothes, toiletries, pillows, cash, and anything else you might need in case of a car breakdown. Also, consider bringing a road trip safety kit with you that includes a first aid kit and jumper cables.
